CDI’s Lung Scan is part of our InnoVision Early Detection Program.

The Lung Scan is a simple scan that assists diagnosis of early Stage 1 lung cancers that standard chest x-rays usually cannot detect. It involves imaging of the lung through a rapid, low-dose x-ray CT scan (also known as a “CAT” scan).

Who should have an InnoVision Lung Scan?
The Lung Scan may be an important screening test for people 50 or older who smoke, or have a history of smoking one pack per day for the last 10 years, or two packs per day for the last five years. Anyone who is already experiencing symptoms should speak with your physician prior to this or any other procedure.

Exam preparation
A CDI representative will call you prior to your appointment to provide you specific instructions, and review health and insurance information
  • Notify a member of CDI’s staff if you are nursing or if there is a chance you could be pregnant
  • Bring prior x-rays or scans with you to your exam, if instructed.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to verify your registration.

During the exam – what to expect
  • No pre-exam preparation is necessary for the InnoVision Lung Scan.
  • See “What to expect” under the general Computed Tomography section.
  • The Lung Scan is a simple CT scan that takes approximately only 15 minutes.

After the exam – what to expect
  • Within a few days following your exam, the subspecialty radiologist who interprets your scan will contact your doctor to go over your results.
  • If your report warrants physician follow up, your physician will be able to use the information to determine a health strategy that is right for you.

Will my insurance cover this exam?
Please check with your insurance plan’s customer service department. If you are at risk and referred by a physician, your insurance plan may reimburse the exam. Without a referral, we require full payment at the time of the exam.

If you have additional questions about your appointment or our services, check out our Frequently Asked Questions or contact your local CDI center.
