Dr. Tim Mick is a chiropractic radiologist who provides interpretations for Duluth OpenScan MRI on studies referred by doctors of chiropractic.
He is a nationally recognized chiropractic radiologist, educator and author. As associate professor, he headed the department of radiology at Northwestern College of Chiropractic (NWCC) for 17 years and developed their Radiological Consultation Services. Dr. Mick was also instrumental in initiating and directing NWCC’s radiology residency program, and providing expertise in diagnostic imaging for Northwestern Health Sciences University’s internationally recognized research department. He lectures to chiropractors and interns, medical doctors and allied health professionals on a variety of topics across the U.S. and in Europe, and has also served as an expert witness on issues regarding diagnostic imaging.
Following graduation from NWCC in 1986, Dr. Mick completed a three-year radiology residency at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and was board-certified in chiropractic radiology in 1989. His training included rounds and conferences at the University of Minnesota, University of Southern California, University of California-San Diego and UCLA-Harbor Medical School.
Dr. Mick has received a number of awards in recognition of his commitment to clinical and educational excellence in diagnostic imaging. These include being honored as the Minnesota Chiropractic Association (MCA) Educator of the Year in 2004, along with nominations for the same award the previous two years. He received the MCA President’s Award for exceptional service to the profession in 2002 and also was selected by his colleagues at Northwestern for the Faculty Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice in 2005.
Dr. Mick has served on the editorial boards for two professional journals and has authored or co-authored 23 textbook chapters and journal articles. He has also been active in professional organizations, having served as the president of the American Chiropractic College of Radiology and the American Chiropractic Association Council on Diagnostic Imaging. Dr. Mick is currently a member of the following organizations: the American Chiropractic College of Radiology, American Chiropractic Association and its Council on Diagnostic Imaging, American Roentgen Ray Society, Minnesota Chiropractic Association and the NWCC Alumni Association.
Dr. Mick has been appointed to the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology – the examining body for chiropractic radiologists – and is a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors (FICC). He was among the first chiropractic radiologists to work with medical radiology groups. Since the late 1980s he has read studies for more than two dozen imaging centers and eight different medical imaging groups. He is the president of Imaging Consultants, Inc., providing radiological interpretation for doctors of chiropractic throughout the U.S. on a variety of imaging studies, including x-rays, CT and MRI.
