At Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI), we assure you that we are focused on patient safety for every exam, including CT. We take a number of measures to keep patient’s radiation exposure to a minimum, including:
- Adhering to the imaging optimization philosophy called ALARA or “As Low As Reasonably Achievable.”
- Radiologists evaluate every order to ensure the exams are appropriate.
- Customized protocols and special imaging sequences to reduce radiation exposure.
- Our technologists carefully place each patient within the scanner, centering the anatomy of interest for an optimal scan, and adjust the dose in real-time during the exam based on each patient’s size and shape.
- Shielding equipment to reduce radiation exposure to sensitive areas of the body, including the neck/thyroid, eyes and chest/breast.
- Accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), a rigorous quality and safety review that is nationally recognized in our industry. We voluntarily participate in the ACR’s national Dose Index Registry, submitting dose data for every exam performed our centers to benchmark our centers against other providers, track dose management efforts over time and better manage radiation dose for our patients.
