The CDI Quality Institute, CDI’s radiologist professional development arm, continues to work inside and out of CDI to refine, measure and communicate quality indicators for medical imaging and related services – and to help us at CDI measure and show patients like you how we are a better value and superior choice.

Through the Institute, CDI radiologists participate in a rigorous peer review and mentoring program, host cyber case conferences across the country with other specialists, and collaborate on clinical protocols and research.

The Institute has developed the following questions that you can ask any imaging provider, which will help you measure their quality and compare:

How do they ensure diagnostic accuracy?
CDI has developed a "best of class" peer review and mentoring program that allows CDI radiologists to review other radiologists in their own and different CDI markets.

Do they use advanced imaging equipment? High-field MRI and other advanced imaging equipment generate clear images. This is necessary as you can’t diagnose what you can’t see.
CDI uses high-field MRI equipment whenever possible, which produces higher quality images than those from less advanced equipment. Our advanced equipment improves image clarity and gives radiologists the most information to aid in accurate diagnoses, while better assuring safety and value for each patient.

Are their technologists board-certified? Highly trained and independently certified staff is needed to produce quality images and maintain a safe environment for patients.
At CDI, our technologists are highly specialized and board-certified. They play a crucial role in helping each patient feel safe, comfortable and confident during their procedure.

Do they use imaging protocols? Adherence to evidence-based imaging protocols (use of contrast, number of sequences and type of scan) produce consistent, high-quality images.
Each CDI center has defined a clear set of imaging protocols based on its services and equipment. Discussion of these protocols, clinical experiences and case studies are shared throughout CDI’s network of radiologists, broadly promoting best practices.

Are their radiologists subspecialized? Clinical proficiency is improved if a physician specializes in one area.
CDI radiologists have exceptional expertise in spine, neurological, musculoskeletal, body or cardiac imaging as well as diagnostic injections and pain management procedures.

What is their guaranteed report turn-around time? If the report is not available within 24 hours, there may be a costly delay in treatment or return-to-work.
CDI radiologists electronically provide referring physicians with comprehensive reports that contain significantly more relevant detail than found in most general diagnostic reports. In addition, CDI offers fast turnarounds on reports and images to get treating clinicians the information they need to treat patients quickly.

Do they have an internal Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program? Rigorous internal CQI, especially peer review, is how best practices are integrated and better assured.
“The Quality Institute” is CDI’s internal radiologist support system. Its mission is to establish CDI and its affiliated physicians as the leading providers of quality imaging services through initiatives such as peer review and mentoring programs, cyber case conferences and public policy development of measurable quality indicators.

What are their patient and referring office satisfaction statistics? Surveys are a great measurement tool for service.
CDI surveys patients or referring office staff quarterly. The most recent statistics show that on average: 1) 98% of patients agree or strongly agree that they were satisfied with the care and service provided by CDI and 2) 98% of referring office staff would recommend CDI to family or friends.
