Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
Midwest Breast Care has been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. What does this gold seal mean to you? When you see the gold seals of accreditation prominently displayed in our imaging facility, you can rest assured that your prescribed imaging test at Midwest Breast Care will meet the highest level of imaging quality and radiation safety.
- The facility has voluntarily gone through a vigorous review process to ensure that we meet nationally accepted
standards of care.
- Our clinical team members are well qualified, through education and certification, to perform medical imaging and interpret your images. The center’s dedicated, board-certified radiologists, Karen Goodhope, M.D. and Paula George, M.D. have more
than 40 years combined of breast imaging experience.
- Our equipment is appropriate for the test or treatment you will receive, and our facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.
- The American College of Radiology (ACR) is the largest and oldest imaging accrediting body in the U.S. and a professional organization of 34,000 physicians.
ACR Accreditation
Our imaging center is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in breast ultrasound, breast ultrasound and stereotactic (x-ray) biopsy and mammography. ACR accreditation is an industry-recognized “stamp” of quality that is achieved through a rigorous evaluation of staff, equipment and image quality and resolution conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists.
There are significant differences in the quality of the exams and patient care delivered by diagnostic imaging providers. The expertise of radiologists providing interpretations, skill of technologists operating the equipment, and facilities’ quality measures, as well as the field strength of the MRI scanner each play a critical role.
At Midwest Breast, we maximize our technology for quality results by:
- ensuring scan interpretations by board-certified radiologists;
- hiring highly trained center staff and registered technologists; and
- optimizing imaging protocols for consistent, high-quality images.
National Consortium of Breast Centers
Midwest Breast Care is also proud to be participating in the National Consortium of Breast Centers and the National Mammography Database (NMD) of the American College of Radiology. Both organizations allow our facility to compare our practice performance, using over 30 quality measures, in an effort to advance the practice of mammography and implement successful quality improvement programs to continuously improve the care we provide to you, our patients.
